Java Developer (German), 4+ years experience

General

We are looking for a Java Developer with German to build scalable applications and microservices in an international, Agile environment using modern Java technologies.

 

Responsibilities/Activities

• Design, develop and maintain backend applications and APIs using Java 17/21 and the Spring ecosystem
• Build scalable microservices and contribute to cloud-native application architectures
• Translate business and technical requirements into clean, secure and maintainable software solutions
• Work closely with product owners, analysts, architects, QA engineers and DevOps specialists in an Agile team
• Develop automated unit, integration, component and API tests as part of the delivery process
• Review code, improve engineering standards and support knowledge sharing across the team
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis and implement sustainable fixes
• Improve application performance, resilience, observability and operational readiness
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, release automation and infrastructure-related activities

Requirements

Technical

• At least 4 years of Java backend development experience with Java 17 and/or Java 21
• Strong knowledge of Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem
• Experience building REST APIs and microservices
• Good understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, Clean Code and design patterns
• Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MySQL or SQL Server)
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP)
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift and CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with automated testing (JUnit, Mockito or similar)
• Proficiency with Git and Agile software development

Education

• University degree in Computer Science or another related field

Others

• Fluent German (C1) and good English communication skills
• Comfortable participating in technical discussions and communicating with international stakeholders
• Strong analytical mindset, ownership and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional Agile teams

Nice to have requirements

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
• Knowledge of Kafka/RabbitMQ or other event-driven architectures
• Familiarity with MongoDB/Redis or other NoSQL databases
• Understanding of OAuth2, OpenID Connect and JWT
