General

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to improve reliability, automation, observability and delivery for a large-scale business banking digital platform.

 

Responsibilities/Activities

  • Investigate incidents using logs, metrics, traces and runtime diagnostics, and drive clear root-cause analysis and preventive actions.

  • Troubleshoot and optimise applications across test, acceptance and production environments.

  • Configure, maintain and troubleshoot JBoss, Apache Web Server and NGINX, including deployments, upgrades and releases.

  • Support both legacy and containerised applications running on Kubernetes/OpenShift.

  • Design, maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps, from provisioning through production deployment.

  • Build automation with Ansible, Bash and Python to reduce manual work and operational toil.

  • Maintain and improve observability through logs, metrics, alerts, traces, health checks, dashboards and proactive monitoring.

  • Contribute to SLOs, availability, capacity, performance and operational KPIs.

  • Perform Linux/RHEL patching, maintenance and security hardening, and proactively address reliability, security and capacity risks.

  • Validate end-to-end service flows across application, database, network and infrastructure layers, including Oracle-related configurations.

  • Maintain runbooks, technical documentation, operational procedures and ServiceNow records with good traceability.

  • Collaborate with developers, QA, Product Owners, DBAs, Network, Security and SRE teams in an Agile delivery setup.

  • Contribute to user stories, sprint activities, knowledge sharing, onboarding and engineering best practices.

  • Identify opportunities for simplification, self-service and AI-assisted automation to improve engineering productivity and service resilience.

Requirements

Technical

  • 5+ years of hands-on DevOps experience in production-grade environments;

  • Strong RHEL/UNIX/Linux administration and troubleshooting skills across system, application and infrastructure layers.

  • Hands-on web server and middleware expertise with JBoss and Apache Web Server; experience with NGINX is also expected.

  • Hands-on experience running containerised applications on Kubernetes and/or OpenShift.

  • Strong CI/CD experience with Azure DevOps, covering build, test, release, deployment and environment governance.

  • Automation and scripting experience with Ansible, Bash and Python.

  • Oracle SQL and experience supporting Oracle-related application or platform configurations.

  • Experience with troubleshooting, incident response, root-cause analysis and performance analysis of live systems.

  • Experience with observability and monitoring stacks such as ELK, Grafana, Kibana and Prometheus.

  • Good understanding of both monolithic and microservices architectures from an operational, deployment and reliability perspective.

  • Familiarity with SRE concepts including SLI, SLO and error budgets.

  • Solid understanding of DevOps practices, deployment workflows, operational reliability and technical documentation.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
