Business Analyst – Banking Data & Reporting, 4+ years experience

General

We are looking for Business Analysts to join our client’s Finance Data team, shaping governed DataMart structures and reporting in an Agile, cross-functional environment.

 

Responsibilities/Activities

• Collaborate with business data owners and data stewards to understand data needs, business context and reporting objectives
• Analyze source data and requirements for onboarding into the Finance DataMart and data warehouse
• Support the setup of conceptual, logical and dimensional data models for finance data structures
• Define and align business terms using banking data models and group-wide data definition standards
• Record and maintain data definitions in the data dictionary as part of metadata management
• Test data, validate consistency and quality, and help identify gaps or discrepancies
• Match local and global data definitions to the needs of data users, data owners and other stakeholders
• Define requirements for data quality, data lineage, data security, data privacy and governance of data assets
• Work within Agile ceremonies and collaborate with mixed business and IT teams

Requirements

Technical

• At least 4 years of experience in a similar role
• Good SQL knowledge is mandatory
• Strong understanding of banking products and processes, especially Bank Finance and Accounting
• Solid business analysis skills with the ability to translate business needs into data and reporting requirements
• Ability to analyze complex datasets, identify issues and propose optimal solutions
• Understanding of data warehouse, data mart, reporting and governed data asset concepts
• Experience working with requirements related to data quality, consistency, lineage, security and privacy
• Ability to collaborate effectively with business data owners, data stewards, IT teams and finance stakeholders

Education

• University degree in Computer Science-related field, or equivalent practical experience

• Excellent command of English, especially for documenting and defining business terms
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to align multiple stakeholders
• Team player with a collaborative mindset and the ability to encourage teamwork
• Enthusiastic about working in multidisciplinary teams and participating in Agile ceremonies
• Comfortable suggesting topics and sharing knowledge within the professional community

Nice to have requirements

• Knowledge of data modeling techniques and experience with conceptual, logical and dimensional data models
• Familiarity with IBM Banking Data Warehouse (BDW) Model or similar banking reference data models
• Experience with data dictionaries, metadata management and business glossary tools
• Exposure to finance data marts, finance reporting or banking data governance projects
